May Monthly Champion Crowned at Impressive Final Table
June 19th 2010 marked the date for K.B.P.C s May Monthly Qualifier. All current league members were invited out to Friends & Co. off Mapleleaf drive in Lexington, KY to play for their seat and a chance to win the $10,000 Grand Prize at the end of the year. As we typically see with a Monthly tournament, the action started off rather tame with the blind schedule slowed to allow for more play. But once we reached level 10 with the blinds hitting 2000-4000 we really started to see sparks fly and players bust right after another. The Final Table would feature some of the leagues most accomplished players with the players totalling 5 previous Florida Trip Winners and 1 Tab Tournament Champion.

Final Table :  See Picture at top of Blog
from left to right - ( Doug #101, Pat #18, Brandon A. #77, Leroy #33, David K. #136, Anthony C. #90, Leslie Anne #1, Don #9 )

Doug #101 entered the Final Table as the chip leader, however would also have the worst luck at the table. Action started off hot with Don on the button and on the short stack pushing all in with A 4 off suit. He would be called by two players who both checked down a flop of A 2 7 4 10 and four clubs. Don would turn over A 4 for Aces Up, and waited to see who would flip over a 5th club for a flush. Fortunately for Don, no one had a flush and Don trippled up to about $60,000. The very next hand folded around to Don's small blind who decided to ship it for $60,000 with 8,9 off suit, only to immediately be called by Dougs pocket QQ's in the Big Blind. But as I said, Doug would have the worst luck on this day as Don once again doubled on a board of 6 7 8 3 8. Don made trip 8's on the river and crippled Dougs once sizeable chip stack. Hand 3 would see the Final Tables first elimination as Don went all in with A 7 and was called by Dougs A J. The board would run out 4 7 6 7 10 and Doug was eliminated in 8th place.

Brandon A. #77 would be the next elimination as his A 6 was unable to hold up against Dons A 10 on an Ace high board. Brandon A. finished the tournament in 7th place.

Leroy would soon find himself on the short stack and in need of some help. He decided to make his stand with A Q and was called down by two players. On a board of 10 5 4 3 8, Leslie would turn over 7 5 and win the pot with a pair of 5s. Leroy finished the tournament in 6th place.

Pat would be the Final Tables next elimination as he was all in for $60,000 with A Q against Leslies pocket 66s and Anthonys pocket 55s. The board would run out 7 4 10 3 2. Pat couldnt win the race and was eliminated in 5th place.

Leslie now held the chip lead, however that would be short-lived as she would find herself in trouble and all in with QJ against Anthonys KK. She wouldnt find any help and would be eliminated from the tournament in 4th place.

Don had been nursing the short stack for 5-6 hands, never once having more than 30,000 in chips. Unfortunately he could only manage to chop two consecutive pots and hovered around the same stack size. He finally was forced all in with the blinds reaching 15,000- 30,000. David K. would end Don's tournament bid to be a player with Montly victories in two different seasons as Davids 3 4 would bust Dons 67 with a pair of 4s.

Heads up play would be see David K have approz. a 3-1 chip disadvantage as he had about 110,000 to Anthonys 330,000. After 3 hands of heads up play, David K. went all in from the Big Blind with A Q and was immediately called by Anthonys KK. The board would see no help for David and he was eliminated in 2nd place.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ANTHONY C. # 90 - You are the 2010 May Monthly Qualifier Tournament Champion!!!

Leroy (#33) & Eric (#196) Both have great weeks
Hello Fellow K.B.P.C Readers,

In the past week KBPC has held three major tournaments with Our March & April Winners Tournament, as well as our Grapevine March Championship. Last week, All of our March Winners showed up at Shooters Bar and Grill to compete in the leagues first ever Winners Tournament. The winner would go on to get an $81 buy-in for one of Horseshoe Casinos Sunday tournaments, as well as a $20 gas voucher.  With all players starting with 4,000 in chips, the tournament proved to play out more like a monthly qualifier than a regular nightly tournament. Eventually Leroy (#33 - and my current vote for most improved player) was crowed the winner when his 78off suit cracked Stans (#301) AQ. Congratulations Leroy on your victory and being the leagues first ever Winners Tournament Champion!

One day later K.B.P.C held its monthly Grapevine Championships at The Grapevine located in Tates Creek Centre. This tournament is sponsored by the Grapevine to reward the bars loyal players for coming out to nightly tournaments each month. The format plays out much like our Monthly Championships, however those players that play more during the month at The Grapevine, receive more starting chips. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO PLAY IN THIS TOURNAMENT - which is held the LAST SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH! The winner recieves their choice of either an IPOD, DIGITAL CAMERA, or the $75 cash option. This months winner was none other than........ (drum roll please........) LEROY #33!!!! That's right folks. Leroy took down his second major tournament in as many days. SUPER IMPRESSIVE. Congratulations again Leroy on your win and a GREAT WEEK!

Finally capping off the last of our major tournaments held this week was last nights April Winners Tournament held at Eastland Bowling Lanes. April Winners showed up to compete for the $81 buy-in at a Sunday Tournament at HorseShoe Casino. With the blinds reaching 5,000 + 10,000 we finally reached the final 5 who all would receive prizes for their efforts. Tom C. (#68) went out in 5th place and received a budweiser T-shirt for his trouble. T.J. (#185) was next to go out. Then Pat (#18) followed who received a Budlight Cooler for his third place finish. Our heads up battle was down to a short stacked Thelma (#72) and Eric (#196) who held a 5-1 chip advantage. It didnt take long for the tournament to conclude, as Eric Showed King high on a board of A QQ J 4 which was good to beat Thelmas 9-2. Congratulations ERIC #196 on your victory and being our April Winners Tournament Champion!

Ok Folks. Thats about it from here. Remember to check out the calendar for important dates this month. Our April Monthly Tournament is May 15th, Followed by our April Tab Tournament May 23rd.

Congratulations again Leroy and Eric and an outstanding week!
