Man what a summer it has been!
Blazing heat, ton’s of rain, and to top it all off they've had me delivering beer for our wonderful sponsor Budweiser all summer long! 5:30 am comes early people! Luckily I made it through safely, though admittedly I did fall a little behind as far as keeping all of you guy’s updated. So today I am here to remedy that.
As I know I’ve said a million times before, I must say it again today, GO TO THE WEBSITE. Kentuckybluepokercrew.com has so much new, and old information that is constantly changing and rearranging it’s impossible for me to keep you up to date with monthly emails. You need to get on there about once a week or more, check your points, read the homepage, and then head to the Special Events Calendar. That calendar is where anything we do, besides our normal nightly games, is posted. Fundraising events, double points nights, special promo nights, etc, etc.
With that said I’m going to attempt to get you as up to date as possible at the moment. First of all, a couple of venue notes. Shooters on Southland Drive has been sold. It goes under new ownership on September 1rst. What this means for poker I’m not entirely sure yet, but I do know that they plan on shutting down for remodeling through the 24th of September. With that known, we have moved the Friday night game to Spuds on Pimlico and Man O’ War, and as of now we do not have a Saturday game. I will let you know when that changes, or like I said before just check in with the website regularly and it will keep you in the know.
We’ve also added a couple venues. Some league members of ours opened a new bar named “This is it”. It is located on Fortune drive and we will begin running tournaments there on Wednesday nights. We’ve also added a venue in Maysville, KY called Night Moves. Go to the website and check out the photo’s of both these new venues. They both absolutely rock and I am really looking forward to running games there.
We are currently talking to venues in Richmond, as a well as a couple others in Lexington, and hoping to get a game going in Georgetown here soon, so keep your eyes open. Please know that we are doing everything we can to launch venues in your area. We want to make being a part of this league as convenient as possible for all of you.
Sponsor’s, sponsor’s, sponsor’s. As this league grows we are always looking for new and fun ways to get our players more for their time and energy. That means we need more and more sponsors to be able to offer you guy’s some really great prizes. We are currently working with a couple casinos to get you more satellites, and we are also working with some magazine companies in Louisville, and down in Florida to get additional exposure and additional events. Check out the POKERKY icon on the homepage and you can learn a little more about that.
With growth comes a need for more staff so we have added a couple new tournament host’s and are still hoping to add a few more, so don’t be surprised when you walk into a new venue and see some new faces. Also if you feel like you would be a great tournament host, shoot me an email and we can talk about it further.
September’s calendar has the Monthly tournament being held on Saturday the 18th at 7 pm. This of course is the tournament where the winner gets to play for the $10,000 seat to the WSOP. It’s a tournament that’s open to all league members, however you can increase your chances by earning more and more points at our weekly tournaments. So make sure you get out there and get as many points as you can.
I think that’s about it for now. New venues, new nights, new hosts, new sponsors, new prizes, but yet with all the new additions, it’s still the same great fun we’ve offered for 3 years now……just bigger, with more players, and better. Those of you we haven’t seen in awhile, you need to come visit us. Those of you that are new to this league, you are now a part of one of the biggest and fastest growing free poker leagues in the state of Kentucky. Head out tonight to your venues of choice, grab yourself something good to eat, throw back a couple drinks, and we’ll see you at the tables!
